Glossary

Credit
The unit a simulation run is charged in. One credit per target per run; a Discovery run is a flat one. Held per organisation. See Credits and billing.
Discovery
A simulation type that grades the estate you already run, without comparing it against anything.
Efficiency grade
A grade from A+ to F describing how efficiently a hardware configuration converts energy into work, derived from its ITEE score. U means we could not determine one. See Reading your results.
Estate Refresh
The default simulation type. Compares your whole estate against each target and works out how many of that target would be needed to replace it.
Facility overhead
How much energy the facility draws for every unit drawn by the IT equipment — cooling, distribution losses and the rest.
Hardware configuration
One server specification in our catalogue — vendor, model, CPU model, CPU count and memory — carrying the efficiency grade everything else is calculated from.
Host to Host
A simulation type where you state exactly how many target servers you intend to buy, and the two fleets are compared directly.
ITEE score
IT Equipment Energy Efficiency. A measure of useful compute returned per unit of electricity drawn. Determines the letter grade.
Location
A physical site in the Estate module. Every server there belongs to one, and a location's inventory can be imported straight into a simulation. See Locations and estate.
Match
The catalogue hardware that one line of your specification has been identified as. Matching is fuzzy and carries a confidence score.
Organisation
The account that owns simulations, estates, reports and credits. Every user belongs to one, and organisations are sealed from one another.
Run
One execution of a simulation. A simulation keeps every run you have made, each with its own version number.
Scope 2 emissions
Emissions from the electricity you purchase. What the carbon result measures.
Server group
An optional grouping of servers that cuts across locations — by project, business unit, or however you prefer.
Simulation
The container for one piece of analysis: your estate, the hardware you are comparing it against, and every run.
Specification
Your current estate as described to Interact DC — one line per server configuration. See Specifications.
Specification line
One row of a specification, representing one or more identical servers.
Target
A hardware configuration you are considering, evaluated against your specification. Each costs one credit per run.
Visibility
Whether a simulation is private to you or shared with your organisation.
